TCP/IP Direct to RMC-ENET: The direct method is much faster, and does not require an additional bridge device, but it is limited to RMCs with the RMC-ENET module. Serial: The serial port is generally several times faster, and eliminates the requirement for an Ethernet adapter in the PC, but it does not provide isolation, has much shorter cable distances, cannot route across intranets and the Internet, and can only address a single RMC per serial port.

The UDS from Lantronix (was used in testing.Ĭomparison with Other Communication Drivers Delta does not sell its own TCP/IP-to-RS232 bridge, but many companies make them. This diagram could also be drawn with any of the TCP/IP routing variants shown in the TCP/IP Direct to RMC-ENET Overview topic. Bridge mode characters received at serial interface, are sent to Ethernet and vice versa. Additional RMCs could either be added through an additional bridge each to the hub or switch, or they could be plugged into additional serial ports on a multi-port bridge. The serial bridge can work in two modes: Configuration mode a serial inte rface (UART or SPI) is used to c onfigure serial bridge. The following diagram shows the typical network layout. This is possible using a TCP/IP-to-RS232 Bridge device.

This driver adds many of the benefits of Ethernet-it allows routing and addressing multiple modules and provides isolation-to all RMCs because it uses the RMC100 CPU's "RS-232 Monitor" serial port, but does so at the expense of performance. Note: This communication driver requires RMC100 CPU firmware dated 20010522 or later. I would vote for the Bridge to accept the CLOSE_WAIT, close the connection and then go back to the listening state (yellow) until the button is press, a connection is established or the Bridge is closed.Communication Driver: TCP/IP-to-RS232 Bridge Overview Communication Driver: TCP/IP-to-RS232 Bridge Overview and the TCP/IP stack is stuck in the CLOSE_WAIT state waiting for a connection termination request from the Bridge. This implementation includes a small memory footprint web server and TCP/IP. The microcontroller used in this application supports Ethernet-based connectivity. The design is built using the MCF51CN128, the open-source RTOS FreeRTOS and the TCP/IP stack LwIP. Version 5 is much better behaved! There is one idiosyncrasy: If the connection is broken (browser is closed), and the connection starts to close, the Bridge will show that it is still in the 'established' state (Green). It is a serial-to-Ethernet bridge which bridges UART, SPI and IIC to Ethernet easily. Right you are! For what ever reason, the version 1's Uninstall didn't, and I failed to notice I had two version of Bridge installed. I just took V1.0 down to avoid future confusion and since it contains a few bugs. V1.0 installs to "Program Files (x86)/GEM Bridge" it looks like whereas V5.0 installs to "Program Files (x86)/Serial to TCP Bridge". I suspect you're running V1.0 as V1.0 didn't have the option to switch bauds, V5.0 does. I tried the connection several times, and it frequently lost characters causing very messsed up web pages, where as the Network Utility's Serial tab is rock solid at both 19,200 and 115,000.
It was far less reiliable than the Serial tab of the GEM Network Utility.
I dropped the GEM down to 19,200 baud and made the connection using the Bridge software. If the Bridge is primarly intended to be used for data transfers (rather than firmware uploads) would it make more sense to have it open the port at the higher speed or, better yet, allow the user to select the speed as is done in the GEM Network Utility? The main working principle is to convert RS232, RS485, and UART serial ports into wired Ethernet, wireless WIFI, and mobile cellular networks, which are widely used in data acquisition and remote control solutions.
SERIAL TO TCP BRIDGE ANDROID
While working on the WiFi interface between a data collection system operating only through RS232 and a controlling system on a PC or Android phone that uses TCP/IP socket communications I have realized that there umight /u exist a problem with data transfers uto /u the RS232 based system. Put a port monitor on it and discovered the problem. ZXTC produces industrial network switches, serial servers, 5G/4G routers, optical fiber transceivers, wireless AP/DTU modules, Modbus RTU to TCP/IP bridging gateways. Solved: ESP8266 data buffering in TCP-UART bridge.
